The latest opening hours for the Learning Resources Centres (LRCs) are available on the Help website.
Using the library
University of Chichester staff are automatically given a library borrower account. Your staff card is also your library card and can be used on the library self-service machines. You will find your library number on your staff card and you can use this number to log in to your library account on the library catalogue. If your card is not working, please visit the SIZ desk in the LRC.

Finding information
Library Services Moodle pages
The Library Services Moodle page for staff and students has help guides and information on using the library. From here you can access the library catalogue, which is the key to finding books and eBooks in the library and you can also access individual eBook platforms. There are also links to a dedicated Moodle page for each department.
Journals
You can search for journal articles using a range of eResources available on the Library Services Moodle page. You can use our Discovery service to search for journal articles, or there is an option to search for specific journal publications, you can also access an A-Z of Databases and eBook platforms. For more information on finding resources, please contact your subject librarian.
Reading lists
Library guidelines for reading lists are available on the staff intranet under Library Services, Supporting Your Teaching. As a general rule, we buy one copy of a core text per ten students. Your subject librarian will provide training on ChiReadingLists software. More information and training guides are available on the ChiReadingLists Moodle page.
Digitisation and copyright
Digital extracts from many books and journals can be requested via your ChiReadingLists to include on your course Moodle. This will ensure compliance with copyright regulations. More information on copyright can be found on the Copyright section of the Library Services Moodle page.
Library support for your students
Subject librarians collaborate with academic staff to provide a programme of information research skills training for students at induction and throughout their course. Please contact your subject librarian for more information.
Academic skills workshops for students are also available throughout the year and can be booked at the SIZ or by email to academicskillsadviser@chi.ac.uk.
The library provides a variety of learning environments, including group study areas, silent study and bookable group study booths. PCs are available as well as power points for mobile devices.

Using other libraries
The university participates in the Sconul Access scheme so you can use most UK academic libraries. You can apply for items that are not held at Chichester via the Inter Library Loans service. Complete an online form on the Library Services Moodle page or pick up a form available at SIZ or library enquiry desks.
ChiPrints
It is the policy of the University of Chichester to make all research outputs freely accessible to the public (i.e. Open Access) as far as possible through the self-archiving of those outputs on the University’s institutional repository (ChiPrints).

Mendeley for Reference Management
Mendeley allows you to store and organise your research sources as well as creating in-text and reference lists in Word in your chosen referencing style.

Mendeley has an online version and a desktop version. The desktop version is available to download on university PCs from the Managed Software Centre. Off campus, the free software can be downloaded from https://www.mendeley.com/download-desktop. In addition, your online version can be accessed at any time from https://www.mendeley.com/library and will include the same references as your desktop account. However, you must use the Desktop version if you want to incorporate your references into Word.
Training for Mendeley is provided by subject librarians via the Staff Development Programme or can be arranged by tutors for groups of postgraduate students.
