Note: if you’ve already completed your IT account registration through ChiView to get your username e.g. kweb1, and initial password, you can skip to the next page 'Password manager'.

Section 1

There are two methods for starting the IT account registration process.

Method A: from a personal device

Method B: from a university computer

  • From a university PC or Mac, enter ‘help’ as the username, leave the password field empty, and log in Illustrative image
  • Once the desktop menu has loaded click 'Student IT account registration' Illustrative image
  • Go to section 2

Section 2

Enter your details then click ‘Submit’: Illustrative image

  • Student number (applicant number): 7 digits e.g. 1508547
  • Date of birth: in 6 character format e.g. 270499

Check that your name and course is correct, read the IT policy documents, then click 'Show my account details' Illustrative image

You are presented with your IT account logon details: Illustrative image

  • Username: e.g. kweb1
  • Initial password
  • Email address: e.g. kweb1@stu.chi.ac.uk

Note: your username and password can be used to log on to our open access computers, and web-based systems e.g. ChiView, email (Office 365), and Moodle.

If you've just completed your IT account registration on a university computer, you can now close the browser and click 'return to logon screen' Illustrative image then log on to the computer with your username and password. Illustrative image
