Holiday Support

To help support you during the upcoming winter break we have put this page together of helpful FAQ's we think people may ask during the period.

The SIZ service and LRCs will close for the winter break on Friday 20th December at 5pm and will reopen at 8am on Thursday 2nd January 2025.

 

In the meantime, online services will continue over the winter break, some of which are outlined below:

 

LRC Opening/Closing:

Library:

Library loans will continue to renew automatically over the break, unless another user has requested them.  Please bring requested books back at your earliest convenience.

You can continue to access the Library catalogue, eResources, subject support,  Live Chat enquiry and more via the Library's Moodle page and the Help website.

 

Access to information systems during the festive season:

Please note that all University systems (libraries, calendars, email, Chiview,  MAF, Moodle, HR, etc) will continue to operate normally throughout the festive break, and that all of these can be accessed from off, as well as on campus.

 

Accessing systems and software remotely:

If you are working on a personal device, you can access systems remotely by following instructions on this help page: https://help.chi.ac.uk/remoteaccess

 

Password recovery with password.chi.ac.uk:

You can reset your password or unlock your account by visiting http://password.chi.ac.uk and following the instructions.

 

Learning and teaching support:

Support for our learning and teaching tools, including Moodle, Teams, Stream, Forms, can be found at: https://help.chi.ac.uk/our-teaching-toolkit

 

Urgent Mental Health and Wellbeing support:

If you need mental health support over the winter break you should, 

  • For an immediate emergency requiring the Police, Ambulance or Fire Service, dial 999
    -We strongly advise you dialing 999 in all cases of overdosing, even if you do not feel unwell; delaying help can be fatal.
  • Contact your GP for an urgent appointment
  • Call the 24/7 Sussex Mental Health Line on 0300 5000 101 (24 hours)
  • 24/7 Crisis messenger text service: text 'SHOUT' to 85258
  • Attend your nearest A&E department for an urgent assessment
  • Contact the Samaritans on 116 123 (24 hours)
  • The Mix (Essential support for under 25s) - 1:1 webchat support between 4pm and 11pm
  • For on-campus first aid and security, call 01243 816363
