An orphaned section in Moodle refers to a course section that is hidden from students but still contains activities or resources. This typically happens when sections are moved or deleted, or during course imports, causing some content to become inaccessible to students.
How to resolve it?
Your students won't see this warning on the Moodle page, as you may have orphaned sections on purpose, removing sections that you no longer require. If you need to reveal these sections again, to reuse or to delete, you can follow these steps:
- Select Settings from the red banner at the top of your page
- Scroll down to Course format
- Change the Number of sections that are displayed
