Logging into/registering on to the discovery tool

Step 1: discovery tool login page


Step 2: find your organisation and logging in

  • Start typing "Chichester" in the box and select University of Chichester from the list, and click Continue
  • You may be prompted for your University username and password (if you have any login issues, please contact TEL@chi.ac.uk)

Step 3: setting up your discovery tool account

When registering on the discovery tool for the first time you will need to:

  • Provide your name
  • Select the department you work in from a standardised list (details below)
  • Your main subject area, if you work in a teaching or research department
  • Read and agree to the discovery tool privacy notice

Once you have done the above, click on ‘Create account’ and you will be taken to your discovery tool dashboard.

The information you provide is only used to set up your account on the discovery tool. It will not be used to share any personal data with anyone (even within the university)

 


Step 4: accessing the Building Digital Capability tools

When you have completed your sign-up, click on Discovery tool for staff

Now select Question sets and reports for staff

This will display the question sets that are available to you

Overall digital capabilities (essential for all staff at the university)

Find out about your own digital capability through a series of reflective questions. By completing these questions you’ll be encouraged to reflect on your confidence and skills across a range of digital capabilities that will help you live, learn and work in a digital society. At the end you will receive a personal report focusing on 15 areas of digital capability.

Accessibility and inclusion (recommended for all staff at the university)

Explore your digital capabilities around accessibility and inclusion. By completing these questions you’ll be encouraged to reflect on your confidence and skills in the area of accessibility and inclusion.

Effective digital teaching (recommended for all teaching staff)

Explore your digital capabilities for varied teaching approaches. By completing these questions you are encouraged to reflect on your confidence and skills in the area of effective digital teaching. They aim to help you reflect on changing teaching approaches and practice as appropriate for different learning modes (eg blended, hybrid, self-directed, active, hyflex).

Teaching in HE (recommended for all teaching staff)

Explore your digital capabilities for teaching here. By completing these questions you’ll be encouraged to reflect on your confidence and skills across a range of digital capabilities relating to teaching in higher education. At the end you will receive a personal report focusing on 8 areas of digital capability relevant to teaching.
