Students wishing to film on campus should follow the below process to request H&S and Estates authorisation.
The primary elements of this process ensure that appropriate risk assessments and associated paperwork are submitted in good time, and give the opportunity for Campus Services colleagues to review requests in relation to other activities on campus including but not limited to other events and planned maintenance.
Filming request process
1. Risk Assessments must be sent in a minimum of 14 working days before the requested date(s).
2. Student to complete risk assessment with all locations, times, dates, and a Police Reference Number if using fake firearms/weapons IN VIEW OF THE PUBLIC, this includes University campuses.
3. Risk assessment to be sent to filmrequests@chi.ac.uk and A.Woodward@chi.ac.uk
4. Health & Safety will review and reply to the requestor with any changes or queries (hence the need for as much notice as possible).
5. Campus services will then authorise/decline the proposed location and will disclose this in a final “filming authorisation” email that will come from filmrequests@chi.ac.uk.
6. The final authorisation will look like the table below. Only once this is received is filming permitted to take place
In addition to this process it is necessary for groups filming to request permission from the appropriate areas who manage buildings. If you are unclear on who this might be please contact the SIZ team via help@chi.ac.uk for signposting.
This page is aimed at students wishing to film on campus - all external requests from non UoC community members should be directed to press@chi.ac.uk
