During August each year, IT Services will be undertaking the various specialised annual processes to roll forward the University’s core systems (such as ChiView and Moodle) to prepare these for the new academic year.
The custom and personalised integration processes that enable the creation of network, library, and ID Cards will also be rolled forward at the same time.
The schedule is as follows:
ChiView
In August we will be changing the current academic year in ChiView from 2025 to 2026.
What does this mean for me?
Staff with a ChiView account will be able to access the data relating to all students with a current academic year enrolment of 2025. The previous year views will now relate to 2024 rather than 2023.
The admissions year in ChiView will remain 2025 until mid-October when the new cycle begins again.
Moodle
In August we will be moving the current academic year from 2025 to 2026.
What does this mean for me?
Moodle creates a new Moodle page for each year a module is running. This means that students will remain enrolled on previous years’ module pages.
Module pages for academic year 2025/26 are now available for staff, listed under the ‘Future’ or ’25’ filter in Moodle. These will move to the ‘In Progress’ filter at the beginning of the semester.

In August 2026, we will also be rolling forward the processes that allow the creation of network accounts, library accounts, and ID cards from the 2025 academic year to the 2026 academic year.
There should be no noticeable impact from these changes but please be aware that students require a valid enrolment record in the Student records system for the 2026 academic year in order to obtain any of these services after this week.
