Tap Settings > General > About.
Then look under Version.

How to check which OS X version you have:

Click the Apple icon in top left corner, then click About This Mac.

Windows version history

How to check which Windows version you have:

Windows 10 or 8.1: right-click the Start button then click System.

Windows 8.0: on your keyboard press Windows Key and D together (to put into desktop mode), then hover the mouse in very bottom right corner, and from the popup menu click Settings, then PC Info.

Windows 7: click the Start button, right-click Computer then click Properties.

 


How to find out if you have a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows

Windows 10 or 8.1

Right-click the Start button then click System.
Then look under System Type and you should see either 32-bit or 64-bit operating system.

Windows 8.0

On your keyboard press Windows Key and D together (to put into desktop mode), then hover the mouse in very bottom right corner, and from the popup menu click Settings, then PC Info.

Windows 7

Click the Start button, then right-click Computer and select Properties.
