Frequently Asked Questions
When will I be able to confirm my Module Registration?
For continuing students, you will be contacted by the Modular Team with details regarding when Module Registration will be available via ChiView. Please note: these dates may vary from programme to programme.
How will I be notified to confirm my Module Registration?
You will be sent an email to your University email address advising you that the Module Registration process is now open, with a link direct to ChiView.
What if I miss the deadline?
If you miss the deadline, you will be sent a reminder email advising you that your Module Registration is outstanding and you will be requested to do this ASAP. If this has not been completed before timetables are published, this will mean that you will not have a confirmed timetable before the start of the next academic year.
What if I am unable to access ChiView?
Please contact the SIZ.
What do I do if I wish to change my course or programme of study?
You will need to complete a Change in Registration form. Details regarding this can be found in the Student Handbook. You will need to confirm the modules based on your current programme of study until the Change in Registration has been confirmed. When your change in registration has been processed you will be notified and advised that you need to confirm your modules again based on your new course/programme of study.
What modules should I choose if I have options to make?
Advice about which modules to choose will be available from your academic department and programme handbook. You may need to follow departmental procedures for selecting modules prior to completing online module choice.
Are modules capped?
Not all modules are capped but those that are will be offered to students on a first come, first served basis. For this reason we recommend that you submit your module selections even if not ready to confirm them.
What do I do if my modules have not been added to my profile correctly?
What do I do if my selections do not add up to 120 credits?
How will I know if my module options have been approved?
Once you have submitted your selections, you will be able to access them on the My Modules tab in ChiView under ‘future years’. Please note: option modules may be subject to change depending on student numbers. Should you need to reselect, you will be contacted by a member of the Modular team.
I am going on exchange next year. Do I still need to confirm my Module Registration?
Yes. Although you may not be here next academic year, it is recommended that you confirm your modules just in case your circumstances change. This will ensure that you do not miss a module which has a cap (which will be on a first come, first served basis). If you do go on placement, the Modular team will remove the modules from your profile.
I am currently on exchange / placement. Do I still need to confirm my Module Registration?
Yes, but only if your programme has option modules to take. You will be sent an email with instructions on how to do this.
What is a free choice module and how do I select one?
A free choice module is a module that sits outside the programme a student is registered on. If programme regulations allow, students may take one free choice module per level to replace an option module provided this fits within their timetable and is approved by the programme coordinator and the applicable module tutor. Once this has been agreed, you will need to email Modular with all relevant details and they will manually add the module to your profile.
What if I am withdrawing / intermitting?
If you are planning to withdraw or intermit for the next academic year, you will need to contact Student Records ASAP.
What if I am trailing credit from a previous level of study?
You will be emailed separately with instructions on how to select a ‘make-up’ module for the next academic year.
What if I wish to change one of my option choices?
You have two weeks from the start of Semester 1 and Semester 2 respectively to make changes to your module registration. After this point only exceptional changes may be approved. Any such requests will require authorisation from the relevant module tutor. Please note however, that changes to module choices are subject to whether the teaching timetable will allow and whether a module is already full.
