This is a brief overview on the use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) in academic studies, specifically in relation to assessments.
Full guidance on the use of GenAI will be made available in the coming weeks.
Microsoft Copilot is available on university computers via the start menu Microsoft 365 account.
Copilot is an AI assistant that helps users with tasks, answers questions, boosts productivity, and supports creative problem-solving. You can explore a range of Microsoft Copilot tutorials to help get started and learn the basics.
Some assignments will allow the use of GenAI to support student work in the following ways:
- Drafting plans, structures, or ideas
- Answering questions or getting explanations
- Research
- Evaluating materials
- Starting you off on a piece of work when you have writer’s block
Students who use GenAI tools to support their work must be transparent about its use. Information on academic malpractice can be found in the Student Handbook. Students should speak to their tutor regarding any special AI guidance for each individual assignment.
