PowerPoint – Adding Media (Video)

Videos can make your presentation more engaging and help explain complex ideas visually. PowerPoint allows you to insert videos from your computer, embed online videos, or link to external sources. Using videos effectively can enhance audience understanding and create a dynamic presentation experience.

1. Insert a Video from Your Computer

  1. Open your PowerPoint presentation.
  2. Go to the Insert tab on the Ribbon.
  3. In the Media group, click Video, then select Video on My PC.
  4. Browse and select the video file (supported formats include .mp4 and .wmv).
  5. Click Insert. The video will appear on your slide with playback controls.

2. Insert an Online Video

  1. Go to the Insert tab.
  2. Click Video, then select Online Video.
  3. Choose from available options:
    • YouTube: Search and select a video directly.
    • Embed Code: Paste the embed code from a video hosting site.
  4. Click Insert to add the video to your slide.

3. Adjust Video Playback Settings

  1. Select the video on your slide.
  2. Go to the Playback tab on the Ribbon.
  3. Configure options such as:
    • Start: Automatically or On Click.
    • Play Full Screen: Expand video during slideshow.
    • Loop Until Stopped: Repeat playback.
    • Hide While Not Playing: Hide the video frame when not active.

4. Resize and Position the Video

  • Drag the corners of the video frame to resize.
  • Use alignment tools in the Format tab to position the video precisely.
