Using these induction pages
Choose a subject from the navigation lower down.
These pages cover key aspects of induction, and can be used throughout your years of study as a reminder of IT services available.
Partner induction subjects
IT account registration & password set
Before you can log in to ChiView (the Academic Partner Portal) please complete the following steps to get your username and set your password:
- Open the welcome email sent to your personal email account, and open the enclosed link
- Click ‘IT account registration’
- Read the IT policy document, then click 'Next'
- Click the 'password reset page' link Note: your personal email address must be correctly registered in ChiView to set your university password
- Type your username and click 'Send Request' which emails you a reset link to your personal email address
- Click the enclosed link in the email which is valid for 10 minutes
- Create a password ensuring it conforms to the university's password policy Note: your password must be 8 to 16 characters, and include three of: uppercase characters, lowercase characters, numbers, and symbols. Your password cannot include your first name, last name, username, and cannot be a previously used password
- Your username and password is used for ChiView, Email (Office 365), Moodle
Log on to ChiView (Partner Portal)
ChiView is the Academic Partner Portal for students.
It is accessed via chiview.chi.ac.uk. Alternatively, from chi.ac.uk hover over the 'Information for' in the top right corner and click ‘Academic Partners’ then scroll to the bottom then click 'Student portal'.
Log on with your username & password obtained during IT account registration. If you are having difficulties logging on, you can reset your password.
ChiView brings together resources such as
- Moodle
- University email
- Your modules
- Your personal details e.g. address, personal email address, and emergency contacts
- Assessment feedback
- Library Resources Please note, the library resources available to you will depend on your partner institution's level of access
- Course messages
Moodle for Academic Partners
Moodle is the virtual learning environment used by some Academic partner institutions. Please check with your tutor if Moodle applies to your course.
Logging on to the Academic Partner Portal
- From ChiView click 'Moodle'
- Click 'Log in' in the top right corner then authenticate with your username & password
- Click 'My pages' to see your modules
Tutors publish module information to Moodle such as
- Module course information
- Links to online resources
- Reading lists
- Activities for you to participate in
- Videos of teaching sessions
- News & announcements
- Assignment submission
There is also a Study Skills page where you can find online guidance on referencing, essay planning, writing and much more
Email
Note: we will use your university email address as our primary means of communication
Your university email account can be accessed from mail.chi.ac.uk. Alternatively, log on to ChiView, click 'Academic Partner Portal' then from the 'My Study Links' section you'll find 'University of Chichester Email'
Password manager
Password manager is a self-service resource to change or reset your password, or unlock your account.
It is accessed at password.chi.ac.uk and can be used from any device, anywhere, including mobile phones.
Password manager features
- Reset password - if you've forgotten your password, or your current password isn't working
- Unlock account - if your account becomes locked due to 3 incorrect log on attempts
- Change password - to set a new password if your current password is working fine

Password manager can also be accessed from the link in Moodle from Staff intranet under 'More links' or via the university website.
Multi-factor authentication
The university uses Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) as an additional security measure to protect your IT account from unauthorised access and cyber threats.
When accessing network services such as email, Moodle and SupportMe, you may be prompted to enter a one-time passcode which can be actioned via a mobile app.
MFA authentication methods
- Authenticator App - the requested passcode will be displayed in the app
- Registered telephone number - the passcode will be sent to you by SMS message or a telephone call
We recommend registering for MFA as soon as possible to protect your account. You can do this by visiting this link and signing in with your University account: mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info

Library resources
Online library resources
Academic partners can access online library resources on the Academic Partner Portal (ChiView) containing ebook platforms, online journal articles, and reference materials. You will find guides and videos to help you log in and use our databases, listed under 'Library Resources Guides' on the Academic Partner Portal (ChiView) homepage.

Walk in access
You may wish to use the University of Chichester campus Learning Resource Centres at Chichester and Bognor Regis campuses: location details, directions and opening hours.
You can borrow 10 items from our libraries using the library barcode on your online ChiView account. You do not need to use your barcode to return items. Additional online resources are available to use on campus. Login to a University of Chichester computer, and select On-campus Library E-Resources to access these links.
Academic partners are eligible to use other academic libraries in the United Kingdom. You can use your library barcode number to apply for access on the national SCONUL website: https://www.sconul.ac.uk/sconul-access.

If you are a member of staff at a Partner institution you can apply for access to the Academic Partner Portal by emailing acpart@chi.ac.uk and asking for an ‘Academic Partner Staff IT account request form’.
Requesting Support
Log a call via email
The quickest method for logging a call is by email
- Send your email to help@chi.ac.uk
- Please mention you are an academic partner student, and which organisation you study at
Once your email has been logged, you will be sent a confirmation email including a reference number.
To update your call, simply reply to the confirmation email keeping the same email subject (containing your reference number).
To view the entire call history or recent progress of your ticket, please use the SupportMe Portal (section below).
Log a call via the SupportMe Portal
The SupportMe is a self-service portal for logging support call.
To log a support call, firstly log on to ChiView, click 'Support Me' then 'Request Support'.
From the portal you can
- Log calls for a variety of subjects, including for IT and Library services
- Track your calls - including ticket history and to view our updates
- Update your call - including feedback of service
