Building digital capability
Workplaces are changing
It is estimated that, in 20 years’ time, 90% of all jobs will require people to work with digital technologies. Already, 72% of large firms struggle to recruit workers with digital skills.
This Building Digital Capability discovery tool allows you to reflect on your digital capabilities and helps you to:
- Identify your current strengths and areas for development
- Receive a personalised report with suggested next steps and resources
- Surface your local development opportunities
- Complete once a year to monitor your own personal development
Your individual results will be private and will not be visible to colleagues or managers, although you may wish to share these with the TEL Team to help develop a bespoke support plan. The university will be able to report on departmental and institutional capabilities in order to identify areas of excellence and areas in need of further development.
Accessing the discovery tool
You can access the Building Digital Capability discovery tool by following the guidance we have on the help site: BDC tool staff login
The tool is built into three different areas:
Explore your overall digital capabilities | Strongly encouraged for all staff at the university |
Accessibility and inclusion | Encouraged for all teaching staff |
Effective online teaching | Encouraged for all staff involved with distance learning |
You do not need to complete all sections, nor do you need to complete them at the same time.
