Setting up or removing wi-fi on a personal Windows laptop

Connecting to our eduroam Wi-Fi network on a Windows laptop

  • Left-click the network icon in the system tray. This is next to the time/date in bottom right corner and may look like a dot with a curved lines Illustrative image  or a compter screen with a cable Illustrative image  
  • From the list of networks click eduroam Illustrative image
  • Decide if you want to connect automatically, then click Connect Illustrative image
  • Input your University email address and password (not your username), then click Ok Illustrative image
    Student example: dweb1@stu.chi.ac.uk
    Staff example: breynold@chi.ac.uk
  • Click Connect when prompted to continue Illustrative image
  • If your email address and password was successfully entered, you'll see the word Connected appear under the eduroam network Illustrative image

Removing the eduroam Wi-Fi network

  • Click the network icon in the system tray. This is next to the time/date in bottom right corner and may look like a dot with a curved lines Illustrative image  or a computer screen with a cable Illustrative image  
  • Select Network settings Illustrative image
  • Choose Manage known networks Illustrative image
  • From the list of known networks, select the one you would like to edit Illustrative image
  • Select Forget Illustrative image
