Email & calendar (Office 365)

Email & Office 365

Your University email / Office 365 account is accessed via mail.chi.ac.uk or from the link on Moodle / Staff intranet.

The Office 365 suite includes the following services which can be accessed via the 'Apps' icon in the corner Illustrative image

  • Outlook email

  • OneDrive file storage

  • Teams - communication & collaboration platform that combines persistent chat, video meetings etc

  • OneNote - collaboration app for notes, drawings, screen clippings, & audio commentaries

  • Office apps - including Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Calendar

Your University calendar can be accessed from email via the 'Calendar' icon. Illustrative image
The 'People' icon allows you to add someone to your contacts list from the University directory. Illustrative image

Students will likely receive calendar invites to online lectures or webinars via technologies such as Microsoft Teams, in most cases this can be accessed via a browser without needing to install any software.

Timetables for students

Timetabled sessions for students will automatically appear in your Office 365 calendar.
Teaching timetables can also be accessed via links in Moodle Illustrative image or ChiView. Illustrative image

Mobile Outlook app 

Your University email & calendar can also be accessed via the Microsoft Outlook mobile app for iPhone, iPad & Android.
Once installed your mobile device can be setup to receive notifications for emails & calendar events via options within the app.
Note: do not use the built-in email apps e.g. iOS mail or Gmail app,  to access your University email account.

Microsoft Office for personal devices

You can install Microsoft Office on up to 5 personal devices. Illustrative image
If installing on Windows or Mac - this will be the full desktop version of Microsoft Office.
